Former Prime Minister will leave Remetinac as soon as he pays 12,4 million kuna bail
According to HINA and Jutarnji list, Croatian Supreme Court has suspended the verdict for Croatia’s former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on October 1st, 2015, in the Fimi Media Case. He is expected to be released from Remetinac prison as soon as he posts bail to the amount of 12,4 million kuna. Sanader was sentenced to 9 years in prison in this particular case, and he was ordered to return 15,27 million kuna.
This decision comes after a three day hearing and only one day after three attorneys – Davorin Budin, MIroslav Šumanović and Željko Olujić appealed the verdict in which HDZ was ordered to pay 5 million kuna in damages and to return 24,2 million kuna of illegal funds.
All three attorneys claim that the Zagreb County Court made several mistakes in the first trial and that is why they believe the verdict should be suspended, or the whole trial should be repeated with one condition – HDZ is to be acquitted and the trial should be focused only on Ivo Sanader.
